Outline
If you have ever thought about starting a podcast for your business or organisation, but are not sure where to begin, then this is the ideal course for you.
Over five weeks, 2 hours per week, you will learn everything you need to know to set up, launch, and grow your own branded podcast.
This is a hands-on, practical course taught by our team of podcast professionals in our city centre studio, and no previous podcasting or audio editing experience is required. We’ll cover everything you need to get your business podcast started: recording techniques and equipment, interviewing, editing, podcast marketing and growth. You’ll get ongoing feedback from a team that has successfully launched hundreds of podcasts for international brands, government organisations, charities, professional bodies, universities, and many others.
Note: this course can also be run as a bespoke course in your office or workplace - get in touch for a quote.
Meet the Team
Schedule
In Week 1, we’ll start getting ideas together and planning out your show. How can a podcast complement your business and where does it fit in your broader strategy around content, branding, and promotion?
We’ll look at podcast formats and styles, topics and episode structure, picking a name, finding your target audience, and lots more. There will be plenty of audio examples and feedback on your own podcast ideas.
In Week 2 we’ll turn to the guests. How do you prepare for and conduct an engaging interview? What are your listeners (and potential clients) looking for?
We’ll look at interview techniques, research and preparation, and scripting dialogue for audio.
In the final part of week 2, we’ll start looking at microphones & recording techniques, getting hands-on with our extensive range of equipment in the studio.
Week 3 continues with recording techniques, whether this is in studio, online, in the office, or out in the field. We’ll look at microphones, portable recorders, soundproofing, and recording accessories. We’ll also look at how to avoid common recording problems and how to make your podcast not sound like an office meeting on zoom!
In the final part of the class, we’ll look at the visual side of things: options for supplementing your show with video clips, as well as podcast artwork and giving your show a strong visual identity.
In Week 4 you’ll get an overview of your options for editing audio, focusing on Audacity, a free program used widely by podcasters. You’ll learn the basics of editing audio, adding music and other clips, and exporting to MP3.
We’ll then turn to hosting and distributing your show, exploring how to make your show available as widely as possible and how best to link it to your company website and other parts of your business.
In the final week we’ll work on promoting your show, fitting it into your business’ social media and marketing strategies, and setting it up for future growth. We’ll also look at how to measure success and keep improving your podcast into the future.
